Our Story
The Founder
Fate — or something like it — brought me to Hong Kong in November 2024. The city kept finding ways to make me stay, and I found myself immersed in a culture I had only glimpsed from the outside.
TCM was introduced to me during my studies in Holistic Wellness Management at HKU Space. I was instantly curious. I started going to a clinic regularly, applying what I was learning, and noticing real changes. But I also found the information overwhelming — there was no gentle entry point for someone coming from the outside.
With Matie, I want to create that bridge. A starting point into TCM that people can then explore further, in their own time, at their own pace.
What We Stand For
Radiance that starts from within.
A bridge between East and West.
Open, eager, and always learning.
A space where healing is real.
Matie exists to help you activate your own radiance — the kind that starts from within and works its way outward. Our blends are medicinal foods, carefully composed to support the body, but the act of choosing them is equally powerful. It is a small, intentional moment of care in a busy day — a reminder that your wellbeing is worth prioritising.
We see Matie as a bridge between East and West — a way of making ancient knowledge feel accessible and alive. Every bottle is a doorway into the world of TCM, and the wider Matie community will grow to include wellness spaces, shared rituals, and a global network of people who are curious about each other and the traditions that have shaped us.
Learning and exploring will always be at the heart of what we do. We believe that when we stay open and eager to grow, we make the world a little better. Curiosity is the antidote to fear, and in a world where real connection can feel scarce, being genuinely interested in each other — in different cultures, different ways of healing — is one of the most powerful things we can do.
We create a space where healing is not just a concept but a lived experience — grounded in both ancient wisdom and modern science. Whether that healing comes through a daily ritual with one of our teas, or through belonging to a community of people on a similar path, our intention is always the same: to help you become more fully yourself.

A Living Tradition
Tea in China is not just a drink — it is a practice, a ritual, a way of being present with other people. Gong Fu Cha, or 'tea with skill', transforms the simple act of brewing into something meditative and social. Small clay pots, tiny cups, multiple short steepings. Every gesture is deliberate.
In TCM, the tea you choose carries meaning beyond flavour. Green tea cools and clears; black tea warms; white tea nourishes Yin. Choosing a tea is an act of attunement — to the season, to your body, to the moment. That is the spirit Matie is built on.
Evidence & Intuition
With a background in psychology, the scientific method is well incorporated into how I learn and question. Even with its limitations, it remains key to developing human knowledge.
One of the main criticisms of TCM from a Western perspective is the lack of scientific proof. This view demonstrates a lack of understanding of Chinese culture and of how rigorously these methods have been tested over thousands of years. Matie will help shed light on this — highlighting how TCM is far more scientific than many people first think.
